I felt extra Chrismasey today.

Christmas at the Bellemare House. What Kooks.

So as you've probably already noticed... I have disguised my blog as a Christmas blog. I have a feeling it will stay this way for a while. And if you're reading this sometime way in the future... I'll tell you what it looks like. It looks like I just got Christmased. That's right. Christmased. Green background- OF COURSE, and jingle bells written on the right side over there. Green writing and everything. It's cute. I didn't design it but it's definitely satisfactory. I used to hate that when i was a kid and you got like either an S or a U on your report card. Writing: S, Reading: S, Behavior: U... "Melindy, why did you get a U in behavior?" My mom would ask. Maybe I was under behaving? I had NO idea what a U meant. But I do know this, my blog has been satisfactorily Christmased. O o O...random idea... Christmased... Christmace... Mace spray decorated Christmas Style. How bout that? How fun would that be? Christmace! It's like saying "You're not pullin' the wool over my eyes this year PUNK!" and "God Bless." Protection and a little Christmas spirit for all those muggers out there. Genius. Why don't they pay me for this? I wonder if the Mace company has thought of this yet? I'll write a letter. I wish I had an assistant then I could say things like that and afterward say - Write that down...Christmace.

Maybe I'm feeling extra Christmasey because the University is letting us go home a little early today. Or maybe I'm feeling extra Christmasey because I just bought matt's present... it's a....ah aaaaaaahhh ha ha ha Matthew... you didn't think I'd really give it away on my blog, now did you? Nice try though. NICE try Matthew.

Anyway, I got really excited about the gift and immediately changed my blog to accent my mood. AND I changed my Pandora music to the Christmas station. I feel like I'm trying to overcompensate because...although Matt and I finally have our own place...we do NOT have a Christmas tree because of that LITTLE MONSTER Dax. You know he ate an entire loaf of bread the other day? NOT EVEN A DOG can eat an entire loaf of bread! WHERE THE "H" DOES IT ALL GO? He's a tiny little thing. Yesterday I had to fight him for a chicken wing he snagged from the trashcan. (I was afraid the bone might split and choke him) And you know what that little bugger did? HE GROWLED AT ME. Like and audible intimidating growl. And then he sunk his little teeth into my finger *i don't think he meant to but it still hurts! What is wrong with him? Actually I ask him that several times a day. "WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU CAT?!?!?!" He's so strange sometimes I'm afraid he will actually answer me. He also makes gross smacking Chomp chomp chomp noises when he eats. It sounds like 400 lb man is eating out of my trashcan when I wake up in the morning. Sheesh. So the bottom line is that we have no tree because Dax would probably be on top of it chewing on the wings of the angel when we got home. So I have to overcompensate.

Christmas is my favorite time of year and below are my two most favorite Christmas songs...gotta love Mariah and Nat King Cole...

We have a different tradition at our house. We celebrate Christmas on Christmas Eve. We eat a biiiig meal and then talk about all the things we're thankful for. And most families have piles and piles of gifts to open. In our family we usually only get one another one gift. So you end up with four gifts at Christmas. Then we have tea and cookies...and usually watch a Christmas movie. And what do we do on Christmas day? Well, we go to the movies of course! Its a little different...and a little weird but...it's the Bellemare way. What do you think about Christmas at the Bellemare house? What are your family traditions?

  1. I loved this post! I think you should market that Christmace idea. I miss you Melinder!!My favorite Christmas tradition includes snoogling on Christmas eve while watching Home Alone and eating sweets from the kitchen. But the snoogling is the best part, oh and tow socks!

  2. I love the Christmace idea, too, and I find it hilarious that you have a friend who also says "snoogling" since that's what Ric and I call it. As for the cat and the loaf of bread, I read once that cats only feel full when they've gotten enough protein, so if they're eating something without protein, they can keep eating indefinitely--don't know if that's true or not, but maybe it'd explain Dax's insatiable appetite!
